Each weekday morning I am to report to my employment on the LSU campus at
7:30 AM, I leave my residence by 6:30 then walk 0.9 miles to arrive at
bus stop 1361 - Government at Napoleon streets, westbound - by 6:50. A
bus for this route is scheduled to leave the terminal at 6:55.

busses arrive and depart in a consistent and dependable pattern. With a
"substitute" operator, busses arrive and depart in an inconsistent and
unreliable pattern, often causing other LSU employees and myself to be
late to report to our places of employment.

and the detached wrist strap is still were it was left yesterday morning.
Upon inspecting the the detached wrist strap, all that appears to be
needed to safely secure it to its position on the overhead rail would
be to apply and tighten the metal buckle/collar and screw.

Upon taking hold of an overhead hanging wrist strap, it became completely

the bus.

I didn't recognize the operator as someone I've seen drive this route
before, maybe a substitute for a regular operator on this route.

I'm at this bus stop at 6:45 AM today, ten minutes before a westbound
bus is scheduled to leave the terminal. Driven by a regular operator
for this route, Bus 205 stopped by at 7:17, arrived at the LSU campus
by 7:25 AM and I was barely able to report to work by 7:35.

bus is scheduled to leave the terminal. Driven by a regular operator
for this route, Bus 198 stopped by at 7:01, arrived at the LSU campus
by 7:15 AM and I was able to report to work five minutes early.

The engine suddenly stopped and the operator radioed as such to a voice
on the speaker that did not seem to understand that she was not able
to bring the bus back to the terminal.
Upon restarting the engine, the operator motored slowly then at 7:11
AM pulled off Highland road right next to the overpass where we waited
for another CATS bus to pick us up.
Bus 729 arrived at 7:20 AM. We're late in reporting to our employment
once again but we're not as late as we might have been had a bus not
arrived to pick us up so quickly.
The signal bell is not working.

I'm always at stop #1250 by 6:55 AM, the time at which - according to
the CATS website - a westbound bus is scheduled to leave the terminal.
There's never - that I know of - a problem when the "regular" operators
that I see most every weekday are on the route. When they're operating
the bus, it's easy to "get in sync" with the timing of their arrival
and departure.
It's when there's a "substitute" operator on this route that other LSU
employees and myself wind up being late to report to our workplaces.

to begin.

CATS Set To Upgrade Bus Tracking Application
July 18, 2023 BATON ROUGE, La. -
Capital Area Transit System (CATS) is happy to announce that they will
be upgrading their bus tracking application and will begin the process
of transitioning to the MyStop application on July 31st.
"We are thrilled to bring this software to CATS and to the people we
serve. It's well overdue and is essential to becoming a top transit
system," said CATS Interim CEO Dwana Williams.
Williams was echoed by CATS' Director of Innovation Micah Anthony:
"The capabilities of this new software will not only enhance the riders'
experience, but it will also help us tremendously with operations and
data reporting."
While the upgrade does mean a temporary loss of bus tracking
capabilities during the transition period, the improved application
comes with several new features including real-time graphical bus
tracking, integrated service alerts via email and SMS notifications,
improved trip planning enhanced via Google, and more. Internally,
MyStop will allow CATS to see and track data analytics that will
help improve on time performance and make needed changes to schedules
and routes.
As CATS makes this transition to an improved application, riders
are encouraged to check the CATS website www.brcats.com for current
schedules and service alerts, or call The Customer Care Line at
225.389.8282 for more information. The MyStop application is expected
to be fully launched and available to riders later this year.

I'd been tracking bus the entirety of the morning to try to establish
a pattern and route so I'd know when to exit the air-conditioned
building and make my way to a nearby bus stop next to Assembly Center
in ninety-plus-degree heat in order to wait for the westbound bus.
This particular operator made several deviations from the pattern I'd
been tracking during the morning and I had a lot of difficulty getting
to the nearby bus stop in time to wait for the westbound bus.
